SYNTH GENERATION. NEW AGE OF GUITAR.

by terrorsmusic

In the early 80s, with the ascendancy of synth music, rock and pop magazines stated that the guitar would die. Kraftwerk, New Order, Depeche Mode, Human League and fucking Gary Newman made the journalists of popular music believe that the guitar music was over. However, with any occasion of force fed music comes a turn for audiences desires. The Smiths, Jesus and Mary Chain, Melvins, Sonic Youth, Pixies and come the 90s, the Nirvana led grunge movement, showed the world of music that people were not ready to say goodbye to the art of guitar playing. Rock music in its roots and constantly developed upon.

And now, in 2013, there is no difference. You just need to be able to observe the correlations within scenes, social culture, politics and the quality of the music at the precipice of the mainstream. Our lives have been flooded by modern day electro music, new age, hybrid synth pop and even ‘rock’ bands incorporating synth into their work ( some bands do it well, but dont get me started on fucking Bastile).

I feel that now, we have become over fed with repetitive, electro music, and if you begin to look at the likes of Dinosaur Jnr, Gnarwolves and Touche Amore and their collective popularity, one cant help but notice that the demand for new, fresh, guitar music is in demand. Yes, electro rock has done well, and some of it is great, so it is probably going to stay and continue to develop, but the raw, guitar sound is back. And it is coming back full of vigour and charisma.

And on that note, you should, if its ‘your bag’, keep your eye on new guitar bands.

We are a new guitar band, and we’d love to have you all listen to us, and use us as an avenue to discover the new trend of guitar music that in the near future will be a main force in music again.

Here’s our latest record, NEEDLES.
